Totally Stockport, the Business Improvement District (BID) company dedicated to supporting and promoting Stockport town centre, is thrilled to announce the return of Totally Stockport Krazy Races, with support from Stockport Council, on Sunday 9th August 2026.

After a two-year break, Totally Stockport is bringing back the UK’s largest free-to-attend soapbox derby, ensuring the event will be bigger, bolder, and packed with even more fun for all the family.

The last Totally Stockport Krazy Races drew over 15,000 spectators who lined the streets to cheer on 30 wildly creative soapbox teams. Now, thanks to Totally Stockport’s backing, the adrenaline-fuelled event returns with new features, thrilling entertainment, and plenty of surprises — cementing its place as one of the town’s most exciting community celebrations.

Since the last Stockport event, Krazy Races has been touring the country, attracting over 250,000 people and raising more than £200,000 for local charities since 2018. Stockport alone has already benefitted by nearly £20,000 raised for local causes — and with the BID’s support, 2026 promises to deliver even more impact for businesses, charities, and the local community.

This year’s action-packed event will once again see teams hurtle down a 350m course through the heart of Stockport, complete with chicanes, obstacles, and even more surprises. Homemade soapbox karts will launch from the starting line and race to glory cheered on by thousands of spectators.

Organisers are calling on local businesses, schools, colleges, community groups, and groups of friends or families from across Stockport to take part in this unforgettable event. Between 20–40 teams will be selected to build their own creative soapbox karts and battle it out for trophies including Fastest Kart, Best Design, Best Performance, and the Public Vote.

In addition to entering a team, there are also sponsorship opportunities available for local businesses looking to showcase their work and raise their profile in front of thousands of spectators. Sponsors will play a key role in supporting the event, helping bring an unforgettable day of fun and creativity to Stockport.

Beyond the races, visitors can look forward to a vibrant event village packed with food stalls, family entertainment, and activities — making it a fantastic day out for everyone.

Shaun Freeman-Jones, Totally Stockport BID Manager, added:

“We’re thrilled to be funding the return of Totally Stockport Krazy Races and working with the Krazy Races team and Stockport Council to make it a reality. It’s fantastic to see local businesses come together to create such imaginative soapboxes, and the event never fails to draw a huge crowd. We can’t wait to welcome it back to town!”

Danny Scoffin, Head of Business at Krazy Races, said:

“We are so excited to be bringing Totally Stockport Krazy Races back in 2026 after a two-year break. The last event was incredible, with thousands turning out and nearly £20,000 raised for local charities. Since then, we’ve toured the country, adding new features to make the experience even better — and we can’t wait to bring these to Stockport. With the support of Totally Stockport BID, we’re going bigger than ever before!”

Cllr Micheala Meikle, Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council, said:

“Krazy Races has become one of the stand-out highlights of Stockport’s event calendar, and we’re delighted to welcome it back in 2026. This is Stockport firing on all cylinders and brings thousands of people into our town, boosts our local economy, gives businesses a lift, and shines a spotlight on everything Stockport has to offer.

“We’d like to thank Totally Stockport BID for funding and supporting this fantastic event, which shows what we can achieve when businesses, partners, and the council work together. Alongside our ambitious regeneration programme — from the new Interchange to Stockroom and Stockport 8 — it shows Stockport is one of the most vibrant and exciting town centres in the UK, while also raising vital funds for good causes.”

Applications to enter a team and sponsorship enquiries are open now via the Krazy Races website: www.krazyraces.co.uk.
