The Proper Good Stockport team are back for another Community fundraiser to raise crucial seed funding for start-up Social Enterprises in Stockport.

This time we’ll be enjoying a delectable cheese box whilst we hear from x3 pitchers, each with an enterprising idea with a social mission to support their communities.

What is Cheese ‘N’ Change?

It’s an update on the ‘Community Soup’ model and brings people together over a meal to connect, share and support some inspiring local people to create change in their communities. We’ll be sampling some delicious cheeses and hear from some aspiring social entrepreneurs and get the chance to vote for one of them to take home a small pot of cash to help them get their venture started or further something they are already doing.

Why is there a charge? 

Tickets are £10 and that will get you a cheese box with all profits going in the seed funding pot for future events. The more we raise the more we can give out. Charging for events like this means we can look at them continuing over the longer term rather than a ‘flash in the pan’ (excuse the pun!!) None of the profits will go towards admin AND every penny will go back into the seed funding pot. You also get one vote to make, for where you want to see the seed fund go with each ticket purchased. You are creating real change, giving someone the encouragement and kick start they need and being fed – we think that’s a pretty great deal, don’t you? 

Can I attend if I’m not a Social Entrepreneur? 

Absolutely YES!!! We want everyone – residents, community groups, local businesses, local government agencies – basically ALL OF YOU to get involved! You don’t even have to be from Stockport. We want to grow the awareness and enthusiasm for all things social and we have big ambitions that bringing people together across a range of activities and events will help us all to work better together and create the conditions for everyone to be part of our boroughs growth.

What about pitching? 

We are already working with a number of social entrepreneurs through our Proper Good programme and have some expressions of interest to pitch. We’ll be asking that anyone who wants to pitch for some seed funding has registered for a Proper Good Chat – you can do that here. You must be Stockport based to pitch and meet the Proper Good eligibility criteria when registering for the initial chat. We will have numerous opportunities throughout the year following this first event to get involved so if you’ve not had chance to connect with the project yet then don’t worry the sooner you sign up the sooner we can include you!

What next? 

Well basically we need you to buy a ticket. Bring your neighbours, bring your family, bring your work colleagues, the more the merrier. In order for this and future events to take place we need you to get involved and share the event. We’d love it if you could shout about it all over Stockport and beyond.
