What started as a simple idea has turned into something pretty magical: a place where the whole community shows up, local food legends thrive, and the Old Town comes alive in the best possible way. It’s the kind of night that reminds you why people fall in love with Stockport in the first place.

Which is why it’s been asked to host the northern heats of the 2026 British Street Food Awards…

The Awards kicked off May 1- 3 in Edinburgh at The Pitt with the Scottish Street Food Awards — the first heat of this year’s journey to crowning the best in Britain.

From there, we head to the South West in Bristol, then on to the South Coast in Portsmouth, across to Wales in Pembrokeshire… and finally, we bring it north.

Foodie Friday has been chosen to host the Northern Heats of the 2026 British Street Food Awards — because of course it has. Legendary recognises legendary.

Applications are open now (link in the British Street Food instagram bio). For one very special edition, on August 23, we’re switching things up with a Sunday Session in collaboration with the Stockport BID company @totallystockport. Expect the finest street food traders from across the North, serious flavour, and a public vote that actually matters — yep, you decide who goes on to represent the North at the national final in Sheffield this September… and maybe even the European Street Food Awards finals in Germany.

So come hungry. Come curious. Come ready to eat, drink, and vote.

Because this isn’t just street food. This is Stockport doing what it does best. 🍴✨
